Sunday night on Frenchmen Street is getting something special.

With support from NOLAxNOLA, powered by Stella Artois, Cafe Negril is excited to present Big Mike & The R&B Kings for a special Sunday-night performance. This caliber of band isn’t something we’re normally able to feature on a Sunday, and this partnership gives us the opportunity to bring an exceptional New Orleans blues experience to Frenchmen Street.

Award-winning blues artist Big Mike Perez is a Chicago native who has called New Orleans home for more than 14 years. As bandleader of Big Mike & The R&B Kings, he brings “a little Chicago to New Orleans” with a high-energy mix of Chicago Blues, Blues Rock, Blues Funk and New Orleans soul—powered by commanding vocals, emotional guitar work and a seriously engaging stage presence.

In 2026, Big Mike & The R&B Kings took 1st Place in New Orleans at the International Blues Challenge and went on to finish Top 3 internationally. Big Mike has performed at major festivals and venues including the Chicago Blues Festival, Taste of Chicago, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Tampa Bay Blues Festival and Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Festival, and has toured throughout the U.S. and internationally.
